Criminals attack police officers in South Kolkata, six arrested

In a shocking incident in Kolkata, police officers were attacked while attempting to apprehend a group of criminals. The drama unfolded in two locations, first at the house of a local Trinamool leader and then at Baghajatin Hospital, where the miscreants had sought refuge. The swift action by the Netajinagar police station led to the arrest of six individuals in connection with the assault on the police personnel.

The incident began on Wednesday night when the police received a complaint of an attack at the house of a local lawyer, Debayan Ghosh. Ghosh, who also serves as the Youth Trinamool president for Ward 99, alleged that he was attacked with a bomb and a gun by a group of miscreants on a bike. According to the lawyer, the attack was a result of his efforts to stop extortion and gambling in the area, activities allegedly run by two brothers, Jayant and Punchki.

The miscreants and the lawyer's side reportedly got into a scuffle during the incident. The accused, who were injured in the altercation, fled the scene before the police arrived. They went to Baghajatin Hospital to seek treatment for their injuries.

Upon receiving information about the criminals' location, a police team was dispatched to the hospital. However, as the officers attempted to arrest them, the miscreants allegedly attacked the police personnel. Several officers were injured in the scuffle that ensued.
